Info/Bio

Donald Parler Jr, Don P The Motivator, Certified Community and Professional Coach, Radio Show Producer and Host on “The Basis Radio Show” on 905-FM Brooklyn.

Recognized and respected as a pioneer and trendsetter in the Hip Hop radio industry, music has always been a part of his life. As a child, his parents loved collecting and playing music regularly, especially while his mother cleaned the house on Saturdays. Their playlist consisted of Lou Rawls, The Temptations, The Four Tops, Diana Ross, Harold Melvin, and The Blue Notes, The Commodores, The Evereadys, James Cleveland, and many more and all the while he was absorbing it on every level from raw talent to studio perfection.

After moving to Laurelton, Queens in 1977 at the age of 10, he got his first taste of the art of deejaying by attending his first block party hosted by “The CBS Crew”. They allowed him to get on the wheels of steel! He immediately fell in love and became fascinated with it and asked his parents to get him a set and they did just that!

While attending middle school, he began to collect vinyl records. Back then, they were cheap and plentiful. Every record label wanted to get their material promoted and played. You could find vinyl records at almost every Mom and Pop store or go directly to the label and pick up records. After school, he would go home and record every Hip Hop show that he could find. Red Alert and Chuck Chill Out, Mr. Magic, Awesome 2, The Spectrum City Mix Show, Hank Love, and DNA just to name a few!

After graduating high school he attended Queensborough Community College and joined the college radio station. While working there his dream was really starting to take shape. He met Russell "Lil Ace" Acey and they immediately became friends. "Lil Ace" now Big Ace of "The Feel Good Radio Show" invited him down to then WNYE Radio 91.5-FM at the top Brooklyn Tech High School where he met Erick "EZE" Malik Bess. The "EZE" of the northeast. The executive producer of 'The EZE Show".

“After meeting EZE,  it was like we all met in a past life; we connected on every level”, he reminisces. “My name then was DJ CL Devastator. We joined forces in 1987 and formed a group, "The Militia". We played the best in Hip Hop and R&B, including Reggae and Classics on 91.5-FM. We played at parties, shows, and events all over the tri-state area. We produced tracks for various artists and groups. We were best known for our radio show on 91.5-FM from 11 am to 2 pm on Sundays“, he recalls.

Now he's back on the radio again after working on several radio stations. His current radio home is with 905-FM Brooklyn www.905fm.net. The name of his show is "The Basis" where he plays a blend of Classics, Old School Hip Hop, R&B, and Inspirational, every Thursday, from 6 pm to 8 pm, EST.
